The Center for Iron and Steelmaking Research (CISR) is a research center within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. It is one of the largest academic centers in the United States devoted to education and research related to iron and steelmaking.
The Center is supported by steel producers and suppliers from around the world. Its co-directors are Professors Richard J. Fruehan and P. Chris Pistorius. The Center supports numerous graduate and undergraduate student researchers as well as visiting researchers from academia and industry. The Center’s administrative coordinator is Roxann Eckman.
